Jonathan S. FitzGerald BL – Chair
Jonathan holds primary and master degrees in law. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 2001 and as an Attorney-at-Law (NY) in 2004. Jonathan was called to the Bar in 2005 and practices in commercial and chancery law and specialises in construction law. Jonathan is a founding member and Chair of the Association.

Barra was called to the Bar in 2015. Prior to coming to the Bar, Barra practiced as a quantity surveyor and he brings this practical experienced on construction and engineering projects to his practice as a barrister. Barra is Secretary of the CBA.

Lydia is a practising barrister since 2006, specialising in construction disputes, construction insurance, arbitration, environmental and planning law. Lydia advises contractors, employers, designers, insurance companies and private entities. She lectures in Trinity College Dublin, University College Dublin and the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland. Lydia is the Honorary Secretary and a founding member of the Construction Bar Association of Ireland. Lydia is Treasurer of the CBA.

John was called to the Bar in 1983 and took silk in 2002. He specialises in Professional Negligence, Insurance, Construction Law, Procurement and Chancery. John also practices in the area of Alternative Dispute Resolution and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a CEDR Accredited Mediator. John leads the Editorial Board of the CBA Construction Law Periodical.

John Trainor SC
John was called to the Bar in 1980 and admitted to the Inner Bar in 1996. He specialises in the fields of construction law, commercial law, non-jury and chancery actions and arbitration; particularly, in the field of construction law. John is also qualified as an arbitrator, mediator and adjudicator. He has acted in a wide variety of large construction arbitrations and litigation in relation to many large engineering and building contracts, breach of contract and professional negligence cases, as well as in disputes concerning procurement, planning and insurance issues. John was Chairperson of the Association in 2018/2019.

Deirdre Ní Fhloinn BL
Deirdre previously practised as a solicitor at large Dublin based firm and at London Underground, advising on contracting arrangements for building and engineering projects. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Construction Law and Contract Administration from Trinity College, an MSc in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from King’s College, London, and a PhD from Trinity College. She lectures on both programmes in her areas of research. Deirdre is the coordinator of the CBA Christmas and Summer Lectures and the Sanfey Essay Prize.
