With the Grenfell Inquiry underway in London under the chairmanship of Sir Martin Moore-Bick, there is a significant focus on the issue of whether the Grenfell Tower, and the materials used in its renovation, were known to be dangerous. Against this tragically topical background, Deirdre Ni Fhloinn BL will present the final CBA Tech Talk of the 2017 / 2018 legal year entitled “No smoke without a fire: construction defects, dangerous materials and duties of candour“ which, among other things, will address whether owners and managers of buildings, and those involved in construction works such as developers, builders, professional advisers and materials suppliers, can and should be required to disclose information or concerns regarding defects and safety under Irish Law.
