CBA Tech Talk – “Judicial Review of Adjudication Decisions – The View from Australia” – 12:30, Wednesday, 21 June 2017 in the Maurice Gaffney SC Multimedia Room.

The CBA are delighted to invite Members to a CBA Tech Talk lecture given by Matthew Bell on the topic of “Judicial Review of Adjudication Decisions – The View from Australiain the Maurice Gaffney SC Multimedia Room in the Sheds, Law Library Distillery Building on Church Street at 12:30 on Wednesday, 21st June 2016.

As Members are aware the enforcement and challenge of adjudication decisions are governed by Rule 56B of the RSC where the contested determination of these matters will be significantly influenced by the parties’ reliance upon persuasive authority from fellow common law jurisdictions.

This lecture is a unique opportunity for Members to gain an understanding of the equivalent Australian adjudication regime to our own Construction Contracts Act, 2013 and the potential applicability and utility of relevant Australian jurisprudence to Irish contentious matters involving adjudication decisions.

Mathew Bell, a Senior Lecturer and Co-Director of Studies for Construction Law at Melbourne Law School, was formerly in full time practice in Clayton Utz in Melbourne and Clifford Chance in London. Matthew is the author of many publications in the field, including the texts Construction Law in Australia and Understanding Australian Construction Contracts (with Ian Bailey), and his scholarship and teaching has been recognised in several awards. Matthew is Professional Support Lawyer to Construction and Major Projects at Clayton Utz on a part-time basis and Chair of the Academic Subcommittee of the Society of Construction Law Australia.
