Update on Adjudication Training – Deadline for Applications – Friday 1st August 2014

Dear Member,
As you are aware by now the Construction Contracts Act 2013 was signed into law by the President on 29 July 2013. Section 8 of that Act provides that the Minister will select a panel of Adjudicators based on “their experience and expertise in dispute resolution procedures under Construction Contracts“.
The Bar Council, along with a number of other professional bodies (the ACEI, CIArb Irish Branch, Engineers Ireland, the RIAI and the SCSI) is suggesting to Members who wish to apply for inclusion onto the Panel that they consider undertaking the “Adjudication Conversion Course”. Details of the course are downloadable below.  The purpose of the course, which includes an assessment, is to provide those who already have training and significant experience of dealing with construction disputes with specific intensive training to prepare them to act as Adjudicators when the new Act comes into effect.
Please note that the deadline for applications to the course is Friday, 1 August 2014.
